First Stop Business Information Center

First Stop is a single statewide resource for entrepreneurs and businesses to obtain comprehensive regulatory and permitting information.  Business specialists provide professional guidance to entrepreneurs by helping them identify and navigate regulatory requirements for their business and link them to state and local resources. 

Workforce Development

Business Enterprise Program

The Business Enterprise Program (BEP) for businesses owned by minorities, women, and persons with disabilities is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable and competitive business environment that will support underrepresented businesses increase their capacity, grow revenue, and enhance credentials.

Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP)

Located at the Illinois Department of Commerce, the SBEAP provides free confidential information and services to help small businesses understand and comply with their environmental obligations.

ISTEP Program

​Illinois’ State Trade and Export Promotion (ISTEP) program provides Illinois’ small businesses with both financial and technical assistance to increase their exports. The ISTEP program includes 4 options for Illinois’ companies to grow their export sales: Group Trade Missions (GTM), Individual Foreign Market Sales Missions (IFMSM), and Product Compliance (PC), and Website Localization (WL).

SBDC International Trade Centers

​Illinois International Trade Centers provide assistance with international trade and exporting. The centers offer information, counseling and training to existing and new-to-export companies interested in pursuing international trade opportunities.
